| Dr. David Johnson grew up
in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He received a degree in
chemistry and his MD from the University of New Mexico. He
did his residency in General Surgery at the University of
Texas in San Antonio, Texas. He then did a Vascular Surgery
fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center. He is board
certified by the American Board of Surgery in General
Surgery. He is also board certified in Vascular Surgery by
the American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Johnson moved from Dallas to Twin
Falls in 1995. He has built a successful vascular practice
caring primarily for complex patients with severe
arterial disease. Advances in less-invasive techniques
prompted Dr. Johnson to seek additional training in 2004. He
spent 2 months at Arizona Heart Hospital in Phoenix Arizona
where he learned endovascular techniques in both arteries
and veins. Since returning to Twin Falls, he has implemented
many of the new techniques and procedures. Approximately 85% of his practice
consists of vascular procedures. Dr. Johnson performed the
first endoluminal stent - grafting of an aortic aneurysm to
be done in the Magic Valley. He is the only surgeon in the
area qualified to do this procedure. He has earned a good
reputation in a challenging field.
Having established an endovascular
arterial practice, Dr. Johnson turned his attention to less
invasive alternative therapy for varicose veins. After
researching the various procedures and techniques being
employed across the country and around the world, he has
developed a well thought out practical approach to treating
various types of leg veins. His emphasis is to make the
treatment of varicose veins a safe, affordable office based
procedure. His experience in endovascular procedures has
been very helpful.
Across the country, varicose vein
clinics are being opened by physicians with many different
specialties. Dermatologists, Family Practice Physicians, and
General Surgeons and even Radiologists are now touting
themselves as "experts" in the treatment of
varicose veins. The physicians often have minimal formal
training, questionable surgical skills, poor understanding
of anatomy, and a lack of understanding of the potential complications
and risks of these procedures. Varicose vein treatment can
be very straight forward or very complex depending on an
individual patient's anatomy. If the wrong procedure is
performed, varicose veins will quickly recur. Patients
should be cautious when choosing a physician to treat their
varicose veins. They should seek a formally trained
experienced surgeon. For the same cost, a fellowship trained
vascular surgeon is the only logical choice.
Don't settle for less: get expert
treatment for your varicose veins.
